Cross-Forum Posting-Mass Spring Double/Triple Leaf Isolation

Postby noxix » Tue Mar 09, 2004 5:39 am

Is it bad form to start a thread here when I've already started it on the RO forum?

I am still trying to get a more lively discussion going about the options I have for creating a double leaf isolation system for the basement studio pictured at these links

http://www.noxix.com/images/acoustics/

but I know alot of folks read both forums, so I don't want to create net redundancy.

Hello Noxix

I think you got already extensive explenations of Steve in the other group(s).

It's true that this one picture creates a tripple leaf system.
I've seen your argument that possibly the center leave should shield the joists already.

However you must see the whole system as ONE physical system, where the different cavities combined with the 3 leafs create one single system (with 2 mass-spring resonances).
So it's not as if this center leaf creates an independent barrier to shield the joists.

Hence see the joist and top floor connected to the outer wall as the outer shell of a box in box system.

Best regards
Eric

HI Eric.

Thanks. I see. Think of the joist as being PART of the outer leaf.

I get it.
