Basement ceiling question

Postby mlange » Tue Mar 06, 2007 1:18 pm

Greetings All,

In a concrete basement, I'll be installing a lowered ceiling, 6" below the main floor joists. The ceiling will attach to the concrete walls / foundation with a rim joist. The ceiling consists of 2 layers of 5/8" gypsum board with a Green Glue center all attached to 2x10s, 24" on center. Stuffed with R19, too.

Herein lies my question - in addition to a roofing felt moisture barrier, is there something you'd recommend sandwiching between the rim joist and the basement's concrete walls? Or does the flanking noise through the concrete walls negate any benefits of ceiling-to-concrete wall treatment?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond.
