Help: Mounting Foam to drywall

Postby B-Blocks » Sun Sep 05, 2010 7:58 am

Just got myself gear., a room, and treatment, but having difficulty combining.

I tried using industrial velcro from Home Depot, didnt workout well especially not for the foam wedges which are kinda heavy.

Been reading about gatorboard, mineral fibre panel, or peg board to mount the foam on, has anyone used any of those? has it been working out?

any suggestions on what to use for the foam to adhere to the material? adhesive, glue, nails, pins ?

am willing to do whatever it takes to get it done right, I would greatly appreciate any advise

Can provide pics of treatment and room if needed

Thank you so much

foam works just fine with regular contact glue, the kind you put on both sides (wall-board & foam), wait few minutes, then attach.
no need for specialty stuff.
when removing, it will take some paint & plaster off a wall.
luck,

glue on the wall?

Don't say "luck"... more like "yuck" :D

I like the fasten foam to a thin board idea - something cheap like Masonite - then use standard hangers

Could always use French cleats (aka split battens) but this may require some carpentry skill. I don't like the idea of gluing straight onto the wall! Otherwise, glue the foam onto something like a batten or thin sheet of MDF or masonite and then attach that to the wall with hooks, wall plugs, or aluminium J-sections, etc.

hey, I'm from the middle-east, wadda'y'all expect?

seriously though, glue to wall is easiest, least hassle, and looks the best (design asthetics aside).
