Stacked absorbers question

Postby Yannick » Sat Oct 20, 2012 2:46 pm

I have a question.
What would happen if I would construct a 220 Hz perforated panel/helmholtz absorber and a limp mass type absorber tuned to eg. 60hz and put them on top of each other ?

Could it work ? Which panel would pass the other frequency better, so the next panel can still do its job ?

Do 55 Hz with something will also catch the 3rd overtone [220 Hz]?

Like a corner full of mineral fiber.

You are absolutely right.
The construction I had in mind (it is a rather theorethical question, in case those two resonances do not disappear when doing the final stuff I need to do) has a total thickness of 230mm.

With 230mm of mineral wool you basically have more of the same, except no 100 % absorbtion at 60 Hz.
