Many of you probably already know, but Eric Desart asked me to tell he passed away at 8 may 2014.
To me acoustics will never be the same without him.

It saddens me to hear that too.

He taught us all more than a few things.
I've taken his bibliography/credit requirements to heart in all endeavors where its possible.

What a major loss, Eric was able to only share a small part of his knowledge with us. For the DIY studio owner I would say that Eric was second only to Everest in his contributions to the understanding of acoustical issues in building a studio.

Im sure our dear professor will always find a way, from wherever he is now, to keep us from straying to the dark sides of acoustics...

Wow - I actually logged onto the site (after many months of absence) to look Eric up to ask him some questions. I am gutted.

He was always a patient teacher to those who would learn and a stern correcter of those who would not. I will miss him.

I wonder if Scott could put here that amazing pic he took of Eric at riverbank,
with the fierce integrity look and a cigarella(?)

Galaxy had some pics online but I can't find 'm anymore. But it was like this, 5 days before he passed. On the left one of the Van Baelen bro's who own the Galaxy, Eric, professor Gerrit Vermeir and the other Van Baelen.
The second pic has Toon Maasen on it, he's the guy who actually coupled Eric and Van Baelen as he didn't trust the plans of some major studiodesigner.
He himself paid Eric to do research as Van Baelen thougt Eastlake couldn't be wrong. Van Baelen consulted Prof Vermeir to judge both concepts and the rest is history

If I see these pics and remember him smoking, drinking, eating and talking that day, I still cannot comprehend the man is gone.....

I have 55 picks of Scott's 2006 Riverbank visit with Eric, and another EricDesart_at_RAL_SabineLab_ed-wcs_131.jpg.

And that broken arm cast -- not really a picture of him, but he appreciated everyone 'signing' the cast.
