I have read that "mass is king" when it comes to stopping sound
transfer. In that vein, has anyone used wonder board to add to a wall or
floor sandwich? Wonder board is a cement over fiberglas cloth board that
is used for backing tile and other materials. It costs about US$0.75
/sq. ft. and is quite heavy. It is also waterproof. My builder did not
approve of using sheet rock in the floor sandwich, because if the
basement ever got wet the sheet rock would disintegrate. Wonder board
won't, so I have thought about using it.

Thanks,

I'd go for it. Although it is expensive. But now I'm thinking of doing it.
