Subject: Floor...
I am building a edit/mix room in the top floor of my 100 year old Brooklyn
house.
The floor below is not used for living quarters so sound transmission through
the floor in either direction is not a serious issue.
There is currently an old creaky uneven floor in place.
I am intending to put down a layer of plywood to control resonances....
on top of that would go wood parquet tiles.
My questions: 1) How do I go about sealing the floor level.
2) is 1/2" sufficient to reduce resonance?
3) Are there any guiding principles for what type of finishing wood surface
is best.
and in general any tips about dealing with the floor.
Many thanks.
Robert
