Spreadsheet for a DIY Skyline-type diffuser

Postby stickjam » Fri Sep 03, 2004 9:55 pm

I created this to figure out how to build my own RPG Skyline type diffuser. I discovered that to build one, It would weigh too much and cost as much as buying one from RPG. FWIW, by popular demand, here it is.

Right mouse over the word 'download', and choose Save Target As. That usually works with Internet Explorer.

I'd be very interested to know what prime number (my guess is 157) and what primitive root you chose (no clue at all) to create the primitive root sequence.

I have been trying for hours... but I don't seem to be able to find the adequate combination. :bang

On the other hand I have been studying quadratic residue bidimensional sequences that seem to have a very estethic periodicity (like circles) that might look very nice in big patterns (179x179).

I don't know. I might try to build one myself, but it looks like it might take ages...

Thanks in advance for your reply.

You want proof? Here are the facts.
:D  :D  :D

I'm confident some cabalistic secret society can make good use of this...

ok, I found... primitive root is 5. Only that the maximum number that my spreadsheet is able to handle is 5 to the power of 23... I imagine I should use some program like Mathematica to reach the end of the series.

Also some "lateral thinking" is needed since the series is followed longitudinally in the skyline, not in columns or rows.

Now I only need to find a way to calculate the series for 1297 and some primitive root of it. pheeew.

BTW it's 4.00 am. I'd better go to sleep

I know someone who has built one of these with expanded polystyrene.  He just used small but long rectangular blocks and glue them all together... quite a bit of work but costed him 50 € I believe lol
